The Guyette Barn Restoration Project
A little over a year ago, the Franklin Land Trust was gifted a 107-acre farm on Gloyd Road and South Central Street in Plainfield by Evelyn Guyette. (see the History of the Guyette Farm) The center piece of this beautiful farm is an amazing turn of the century barn. Shaun Garvey, of Berkshire Barns, believes that the Guyette barn as one of the most historic and archeologically significant barns in western Massachusetts. In addition, it represents a critical component of one of Plainfield’s signature scenic and historic landscapes. Unfortunately, the Guyette barn is in severe risk of not surviving this coming winter. As you can
see from the videos below, the back ell of the barn is threatening to collapse.
Should this happen, there is a risk that it could do severe damage to the main
barn. FLT hopes to eventually restore this beautiful barn in keeping with its
historic character. Introduction to Guyette Barn Restoration Effort

The first step in saving the Guyette barn is raising the $20,000 needed to remove the back ell, and catalogue and store the parts for future reassembly. To date we have raised $10,000 of that $20,000. Please consider helping us ensure that the Guyette barn graces western Massachusetts for another 200 years by making a tax deductible contribution to FLT. For a donation of $1,000 or more, your name will appear on a commemorative plaque or stone that we plan to unveil at a future dedication ceremony for a fully restored barn.
