Richard K. Hubbard has held the position of Executive Director of FLT since July 2004. Rich is recognized nationally as an authority on conserving farmland and open space. Prior to joining FLT, Rich served in a number of capacities with the MA Department of Agricultural Resources, including Assistant Commissioner, Chief of the Bureau of Land Use, and Agricultural Preservation Restriction (APR) Program Manager - the APR Program being one of the most successful farmland preservation programs in the country. He began his professional career as a Community Planner for the Montgomery County Planning Commission in Pennsylvania, and later served as the Town Planner for Killingly, Connecticut and the Assistant Director of the Northeast Office of the American Farmland Trust. Rich graduated in 1977 from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Natural Resource Conservation, and received a M.S. degree in 1980 from Syracuse University and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Environmental Land Use Planning
