Birds of a Feather: What Can YOU Do to Help Declining Bird Species?
Thursday, October 15, 2015
9AM-12PM
Barbara and John Wallace’s’ Farm, 100 Alexander Rd, Leyden
Free and open to all.
Lots of our native birds are struggling with habitat loss, changes in food sources, and other stressors. Come to this field walk and discussion to learn
about what you can do to help. A wide range of experts will be on hand to share information about why certain species are declining, as well as specific
steps you can take on your land, from installing kestrel boxes to managing your woodlands, and programs available to you to help reduce your costs.
Andrew Vitz, State Ornithologist, Joan Walsh, Mass Audubon’s Director of Bird Monitoring, Mara Silver, Swallow Researcher, Scott Sylvester, Consulting
Forester, Marianne Piche from Mass Wildlife, and Wendy Ferris, from Franklin Land Trust and the Massachusetts Woodlands Institute will be part of the
discussion.
