Red Pine Harvest – A Forest Walk On Roberts Meadow Water Supply Property
You are invited to join the Northampton Department of Public Works and their consulting forester on a walk to view an active forest harvest occurring
on water supply property off of Chesterfield, Kennedy and Sylvester Roads. Red pine trees in this area are being removed due to the presence of red
pine scale (Matsucoccus resinosae). This pest is expected to cause complete mortality of most of the red pines within the next 1-3 years. Many of the
red pine trees in this area have already died from the pine scale infestation, or are nearly dead.
