Brian Donahue is Professor Emeritus of American Environmental Studies at Brandeis University. He has written books on suburban community farming, colonial agriculture, American agrarianism, and building houses from local forests. He is also co-author of several works on the future of New England conservation, farming, and forestry including Wildlands and Woodlands, A New England Food Vision, and Beyond the Illusion of Preservation. He helped found and run the community and educational farm and forest organization Land’s Sake in Weston, MA in the 1980’s; and with his wife Faith now co-owns and manages Bascom Hollow Farm in Gill, which produces beef cattle, pastured pigs, pumpkins, squash, and timber. He has served on many land trusts and town boards, including the Gill conservation commission and the Massachusetts Woodlands Institute.
