Nina Anderson Coler was born and raised in Buckland, MA, graduated from Mohawk Regional High and UMass in Amherst. There she majored in Dance.Leaving the area after that with her high school sweetheart, Ron Coler, they married, had two children and lived and worked in many different areas of the country, but always in densely populated places. Upon returning to Western Mass in 1996, where they built an off the grid home in Ashfield, she found an even deeper commitment to this rural area.Having lived in areas where open space and old farms were being developed at an alarming rate, Nina was eager to be involved with FLT, first as a volunteer, then as a board member. In 2009 she and her husband put approximately 80 acres of their homestead into conservation restriction with trails that are open to the public for snowmobiles and a portion of the Ashfield Trails network. She works with many other civic groups as well.Nina is an accomplished water color artist. Her paintings can be found in homes around the world. Her latest joy is becoming a grandmother, giving her new impetus to preserve this beautiful, productive countryside.
